The best time to visit Omkareshwar is during the winter months, from October to March. During this time, the weather is relatively cool and pleasant, making it ideal for exploring the temples and enjoying the scenic beauty of the surroundings without the discomfort of extreme heat.

The temperatures during winter are generally moderate, ranging from around 10°C to 25°C (50°F to 77°F), which is comfortable for sightseeing and outdoor activities. Additionally, this period often coincides with festivals like Mahashivratri (usually in February or March), enhancing the spiritual atmosphere and offering a chance to witness vibrant celebrations at the temples.

Avoiding the scorching summer months (April to June) is advisable, as temperatures can soar quite high, making outdoor activities uncomfortable. Monsoon (July to September) brings heavy rainfall, which might hinder travel plans due to potential flooding and difficult terrain, although the landscape becomes lush and beautiful during this time

By Air:  The nearest airport to Omkareshwar is Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport in Indore, which is about 77 miles (124 kilometers) away. From the airport, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to reach Omkareshwar.

By Train:  The nearest railway station to Omkareshwar is Omkareshwar Road Railway Station, which is well-connected to major cities like Indore, Ujjain, and Khandwa. From the railway station, you can take a taxi, auto-rickshaw, or bus to reach the town.

By Road: 

From Indore:  Omkareshwar is approximately 80 miles (129 kilometers) away from Indore. Regular bus services are available from Indore to Omkareshwar. You can also hire a taxi or drive via NH47 and NH52 for a scenic journey.

From Ujjain:  Omkareshwar is around 88 miles (142 kilometers) away from Ujjain. Buses and taxis are available from Ujjain to Omkareshwar, and the road journey takes around 3-4 hours.

From Khandwa:  Khandwa is about 40 miles (65 kilometers) away from Omkareshwar. Buses and taxis are accessible from Khandwa to Omkareshwar, with a travel time of approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
